About ANNA...

Who's ANNA?

ANNA is a biopharmaceutical company which aims to develop novel medicines, purely based on plant based molecules.

By the application of specific nanocarriers, the company aims to achieve enhanced clinical effiacy for natural compounds. The combination of plant based molecules and nanocarriers could lead to the best clinical results against a variety of serious diseases.

Why ANNA?

Nature offers us a very substantial amount of bio-active molecules. And over the past decades literally thousands of academic research papers, were revealing that numerous of such natural compounds, could become true 'gamechangers' against various and not less very serious diseases.

But there was a major hurdle to take: the problem of tissue targeting. To say it in a layman's term: to get the particular compound right there where it is needed. Due to often low bioavailability and a more or less hostile enzymatic environment in the blood stream, many compounds have difficulties to reach the particular disease affected tissues.

Even when these compounds do reach the particular affected tissues, the amount of molecules that may reach those sites, is seldom sufficient to be effective.

Another hurdle is the serious amount of money required to run well designed clinical trials. As natural compounds are often low in costs, it is almost impossible to make a neccesary return on the investment.

How can ANNA make the difference?

ANNA chooses to apply so called 'nanocarriers'. Nanocarriers are often well designed molecules, which have the ability to 'carry' another molecule. When natural compounds are 'encapsulated' in such carrier-molecules, a better tissue targeting and cellular uptake could be achieved.

ANNA was my late mother, so in rememberance of her, I decided to name the company ANNA biologics.
